Pete Webber presents the Clement PDX Tubular

Our sponsor Clement has been on a tear this season, delivering some fine rubber to athletes like Ben Berden Ryan Trebon and of course the Boulder Cycle Sport Ambassadors! This rubber has notched some fantastic wins this season thus far from USGPs to the Boulder Cup this past weekend.

Here Pete Webber tells us about the mud-specific tire, the PDX.

[VIDEO] Colorado Front Range Cyclocross

Local film producers Celin Serbo and Sergio Ballivian (‘Serbo Ballivan Productions’) created this beautifully filmed short-length documentary about last season’s cyclocross races here on the Front Range. The film has made it into this years Adventure Film Festival! It’s showing this Saturday in the 4-6 pm slot at the Boulder REI. After this showing the tour continues to Chamonix, Santiago, Sydney, and Asheville, NC. So, for certain Colorado ‘cross will be seen the world over! This is the third film festival their film has been accepted to. Congrats!

The power of Valmont and the Boulder Cup

We are just beginning to realize the power of ‘cross. It’s the new Little League for the generation that truly wants to move and push themselves. My son wrote this Sunday night after the Boulder Cup. Semi-wasted from the day yet still amped to convey his feelings. Imagine what that spectacle was like for a kid. Not only racing and getting cheered on from all angles but then seeing this amazing display of Pro prowess and fans going nuts. Well, it incentivized him enough to jam out a paragraph.

I’ve, ah, ‘translated’ his Aidenese below to ensure you walk away with the gist. The last paragraph kills me. ‘This is cyclocross!’ I love it.

Valmont (bike park) Boulder Cup

I was ready to start and I saw my friends and saw he was wearing his timing chip! But I thought that we weren’t supposed to! So I looked around and everyone was wearing them! I called my dad and said: “Dad! My timing chip!”… He said that mom was in a hurry to get it and she got it RIGHT when I was starting to go! I was off! And I was in the lead. It was all muddy and my dad was watching. He said to look up and don’t get distracted.

On my last race, I fell down in my start! A kid on my team named Torin won the Boulder Cup and it was an amazing win! I was thankful that it he was on my team. The sad thing is that we did not do the 5280 run up! Wahh!

THIS IS CYCLO-CROSS!!!

Cross Racing Week 7 | Chasing windmills

wm

“It takes a big man to cry. It takes an even bigger man to laugh at that man.”

~ Jack Handy

Nah, this isn’t what you were expecting. Some emotive diatribe to get you all misty-eyed and weepy for a graying master’s racer who had a shit series of races. Oh, no. It’s more a tale of lunacy…of chasing windmills to some extent but the realization that after all these years of racing this sport I love…you never stop learning. And of all this self-inflicted ‘education’, the thing which continually boils up to the top of the soup is the sweet froth – the stuff which shows what you are made of to keep coming back. Quixotic, maybe. Passion for the sport, for certain. So sit back, relax and be the bigger man to laugh at this big man.
