TRP EuroX Carbon's have arriveth in Boulder
Set the scene: I walk into BCS and Brandon has a big shit eating grin.
Greg: Hey Dubba, what up?
Brandon: (maniacally smiles)
Greg: Seriously, what's up man? Do you have gas or something?
Brandon: (whips out a bag from behind the counter to display the carbon lust bits).
Greg: (wet spot materializes)
Behold, the TRP EuroX Carbons from TRP. Oh, God.
I originally reported on the white magnesium jobbies back a few months ago and now this set has arrived at BCS...one of a handful here in the US being tested. I am not wearing stars-n-bars like a certain 35 Master is, so I'll have to live my improved braking experiences vicariously through Brandon and his Cheshire Cat grin.
The Aluminum Version on Dwayne's scale:
The EuroX Carbons:Just let me know if I can help test these any time, B, Seriously. No, seriously.

by my math, at wholesale, that is 3.75 per gram saved:-)
Ill wait for the mags:-)
Very sexy. I wish they would upgrade the pads though. Have the alu Euro X's & the black pads feel like you speed up when you brake. Switched to Swiss green's & am now in heaven.
Interesting Scott. Did you keep the TRP cartridge system and just buy SwissStop green inserts....or did you just go for the whole replacement pad/post combo? Part of the reason I want to switch (beyond weight) was their pad system. I know I can buy those BBB cartridge/posts but they are TOO hard to source. The TRP system looked to be the best bet.
Maybe just get rid of your brakes alltogehter in order to keep up with the crazy Euro racers...Good luck Greg .. Make it fun . Be sure to snap some Euro babe pics to send back home !!!R STEVE
Greg I kept the posts & just got the Swiss Stop inserts. Makes swapping pads a breeze. Especially when I went through 2 set of pads in two races (very muddy!) The posts work well, though I've read complaints about toe in, but I had no squealing problems with mine.
Nice brakes. I have the alu version and they rock, even with the black pads. Setup is the key, power seems much improved when the straddle cable yoke - y'know the little triangle thingy - is pretty high off the wheel. In-line bar auxilliary levers also seem to help, they appear to have a greater mechanical advantage (maybe due to wrist angle) than the STI brakes. I've actually locked up the rear wheel on reasonably firm dirt, which is really exceptional braking power for cantis, considering I'm a lardass.
Great feedback folks. Thanks!
