Rouleur

So my homeboy Joe B, the gracious giving man that he is, sends me a package with this wonderful present in it. Rouleur Magazine...a UK publication which is available here in the US via Competitive Cyclist.

Pound for pound, it is a magazine that is synonymous with how I see and adore cycling. It's grainy, cult-y, artistic and printed on beautiful stock with writing that is engaging and interesting rather than the pedestrian drivel you unfortunately get in the usual suspect/volume-oriented rags.

To prove the solidity of their mag (OK, through my biased eyes), there is a fantastic article on 'cross which needs to be read and will be appreciated immediately by core crossers, but gives anyone interested in the sport a great lens into it.

I am subscribing ASAP.

Greg - I knew you would like the mag. I have not read the handlebar tape article yet, but I am assuming that you will geek-out on that as well.

Enjoy,

Joe

Love the cover! My first inclination was, "Why is there a photo of some old guys waiting at the airport?," before noticing the velodrome context. That's their angle, it's unique and totally neat.

I got a chance to quickly browse the Wrapped article in Rouleur and was also really intrigued by it.

My compatriot has just published a similar periodical, Embrocation, which also meant to give a unique view, or "lens" as you put it, on cycling culture. The first issue was just printed and is now available. You can check out a little vignette I scribbled for volume one, similar in vein to the h-bar tape article, at the embro site if so inclined: http://embrocation.blogspot.com/2007/09/periphery-pinned.html" REL="nofollow">"Pinned"

Hup!

Jo-sef! Thanks my brother for exposing me to the rag. It's killer.

PVP of the H-U-P: Whatup?! Mmm. Embrocation. I like to wear it even when I am not riding. I just scoped out the Blogspot too and it indeed looks pretty core. I'll have to scope that out!

By the way, when is HUP coming to Colorado?!

Ha!, like when I first bought some chamois cream, I remember the guy at the store telling me that he'll use it even off the bike...and said something to the effect of "like one thousand angels kissing your groing."

There was a lone Hupster out in CO this past year but I believe he is moving eastward to the midwest, so the area definitely needs to be re-seeded.

P.S. I raced roughly 12% faster this past year thanks to your post about converting short SockGuy socks into long ones. Brilliant.
