The WK's are underway and the Belgians are PISSED thus far after the Juniors and U-23's no-showing on either podium. But, at least they look PRO. Note Bosman's tall-boy sock customization. At-a-boy, Bos! There's going to be HELL to pay if there's not the light blue tricolor on the podium tomorrow.

Hey Geert! Honestly, if you were there at the party we had the other night for the Valmont Bike Park, you would have heard Tim Bleumenthal (former CEO of IMBA, et al), you would have heard him speak passionately about the vision of 'cross Worlds in 2012 in Boulder with all of the Sven Nijs and Lars Boom Supporters there, trombones and beer flowing and a world class REAL cross race (where you actually have to get OFF the bike!) will be had. Oh, and it's at 5,500 feet! Ha! Honestly, we need to start by having a World Cup here in the States but the Euros are afraid to do it mid season due to all of teh travel and time change. It could get them sick, etc. So likelky the US will have to do a major UCI World Cup/hors category race early season to allow the riders to feel comfortable enough to come over (like Vervecken!!) and race and show the talents here. Cross is EXPLODING here (finally) and more and more you hear hardened racers ay their seas/what they train for IS cross.
Just saw the 09-10 WC schedule. No crossvegas on the list. Maybe next year...or is there still hope?
Hoogerheide was off the hook!!!!!!!!!! Over 30000 fans, lots of bier and a super fast course. Fun was had by all.
BTW, Mol and Fort 6 were a hoot. Looking forward to going back sometime in the future.
Funny thing about the Belgians and WC podiums. On the road, all they're concerned about is the top spot, but in 'cross, anything less than having Belgian stripes on all three steps is unacceptable.
BTW, I love days where I race 'cross in the morning, come home to follow the World Championships any way I can, and then sneak in just a little extra time for some big football game down in Tampa, where the beer they drink is dishwater compared to what they were drinking in Hoogerheide.
