Funny you bring that up. I've been on Lobster's for nearly a decade and was super resistant to moving to a production bike. But we made a decision to ensure all the guys on the Boulder Cycle Sport team were on bikes that the shop marketed and sold. This said, I used my Rock Lobster to find a manufacturer who essentially had similar characteristics...e.g. 'traditional' 'cross traits such as a flat top tube (not sloping), proper cross-specific cable routing and less twitchy geometry. That led me to only one manufacturer, Ridley and thus we're rocking 'em this season.

Paul and his bikes will always be maddeningly special to me.

How do you plan on getting that thing over to Mol with an integrated seat mast in your size?

(Un)fortunatley, it appears that the Belgie-trip may have to be postponed for now. New job and tons of pressure there will prohibit me from a couple weeks off so soon. Also, and I have yet to get all the details on this (thus the silence on the topic), is that the Master's World's Cross Championships as a UCI event are in jeopardy. There is a deficit in funds to make it happen and thus the promoters are looking to focus on a 'European Master's Cross Championship'...with all outsiders 'also' welcome.

That would blow if it became Euro Master's. My crew and I had a blast in Mol last year and a few of them were planning on going back to attend to unfinished business. Good luck with the new job, you'll get to play in Europe when the time comes. BTW, shiny new Ahrens cross bike in my near future.

dope looking for sure. is that pic somehow compressed horizontally? the top tube looks short. rear wheel seems smaller than front wheel? maybe it's just my being so mesmerized by the bike. are you going to run single or double ring up front?

Whatup, Jeff. Nah, the picture is right. It's an interesting frame design and one that needs absolute study before you buy. I will do a post to show exactly the measurements of my 58. The frame is a work of art, but has very specific traits and nuances. The top tubes run a bit shorter than you'd expect...extremely 'Euro' ans they anticipate longer stems (very very common in Europe to have 130 stems on as an example...even on 'cross bikes). But now I have it dialed I think and will show pictures of the 'real' measurements to help folks when choosing their Ridley. Stay tuned!
